Interested teachers will gain an insight into the work of the cultural association in terms of concept, programme and mediation. A second focus is always the respective exhibition. The exhibited works of the individual artists are used to discuss approaches and thus mediation approaches to the respective medium.

With the historical assembly hall as its exhibition space, the Kunstraum Dornbirn specialises in sculpture and installations, which are predominantly expansive and created especially for the location. How the curatorial concept is dedicated to the special conditions of the space and the artistic work is particularly exciting, always different and is discussed on a case-by-case basis.

The Kunstraum Dornbirn is also dedicated to communicating art to a broad age group in various event formats. Art educator Christa Bohle, for example, organises studios, workshops and guided tours for children, young people and families as part of “Reiseziel Museum” or the “Kindersommer im Stadtgarten“, which is organised in cooperation with inatura, the Stadtmuseum Dornbirn and the vai Vorarlberg Architecture Institute. We also publish the ‘Kunstheft’ (art booklet) to accompany each summer exhibition. Prof Martin Oswald from Weingarten University of Education creates a concept with low-threshold texts and suggestions for work instructions that are particularly suitable as an introduction to the artwork and are regularly incorporated into the educational work of teachers.

In 2023, we had around 20,500 visitors. How we try to break down barriers and convey content for this broad and heterogeneous audience is also the subject of these guided tours for teachers.
