The Kunstraum Dornbirn is an institution the central interests of which range from contemporary fine art to current trends in present-day art in general. The site used for exhibitions is the assembly building of the former "Rüschwerke" factory located in the "Stadtgarten Dornbirn". The quality of the edifice, still in outstanding condition, exercises a unique architectonic allure on the beholder and represents a challenge to artistic projects since the space itself demands individual treatment and careful conceptual consideration. The works of art are produced by artists on location. The leitmotif is "art and nature": from the admiration of nature and critique of civilization to the questioning of natural scientific enquiry. The medium used is almost exclusively that of the art installation.
